The Department of Biological Engineering at Utah State University seeks applications for a tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level. Candidates must have an earned PhD in Biological Engineering or a related engineering discipline. The ideal candidate must demonstrate potential for, or a strong record of, externally funded research, publications, teaching competency, and professional leadership. Candidates are expected to build a vigorous program of funded innovative research with potential for collaborations in a small but growing department, college and university and to be an excellent teacher at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. This is an academic-year (9 month) term-appointment with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2022.

Successful candidates will:
Conduct research and other scholarly activities, including the pursuit of a strong externally funded research program
Effectively teach core undergraduate courses in the department and upper division/graduate courses
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research activities
Participate in department, university and community service

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in biological engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Evidence of established or emerging research area(s) with potential for extramural support and publication.
  • Record of success or potential for effective teaching and mentoring.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Ability to collaborate with existing biological engineering faculty on externally funded projects.
    • Post-doctoral or relevant industrial experience.
    • Capability for computation/modeling of cellular/molecular-level processes.

      a) address speciific topical areas in biological engineering

      b) complement existing BENG department research

      4) Teaching Philosophy: A two-page teaching statement that explains your approach to teaching and briefly describes existing or new BENG courses you would like to teach or develop.

      5) Two of your most relevane peer-reviewed journal article pucblications
