Mid to Senior Technical Writer The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for almost six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations. SDL is seeking mid-to-senior-level technical writers to develop end-user software and hardware documentation or instructor-led and electronic-learning (e-learning) courses. The positions are full-time and are located onsite in North Logan, UT. Qualified applicants must submit a cover letter and resume. Responsibilities include: -- Working directly with software and system engineers as well as other members of the technical writing team to create software and hardware user manuals or e-learning courses, depending on the position -- Researching, writing, and editing contract deliverables, which may include test procedures, reports, and presentations Required Qualifications: -- BS degree in technical writing, English, instructional technology, or a related field -- Experience producing relevant deliverables, including users manuals, test plans/procedures, technical reports, software/hardware e-learning courses, and other professional technical documentation -- Experience working with subject matter experts and identifying the target audience's needs -- Proficiency in MS Office -- Proactive and able to work effectively with little direct supervision -- Work productively alone and or in a team -- Excellent written and verbal communication skills -- Able to meet tight deadlines and demonstrate the ability to understand and document technical and engineering concepts -- Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance -- Must be a US citizen Preferred Software and Hardware Documentation Qualifications: -- Current experience in creating software and hardware documentation -- Experience using Adobe FrameMaker, InDesign, and other Adobe products -- Experience using LaTeX and/or TeXstudio -- Active SSBI investigation ( Preferred E-learning Development Qualifications: -- Proficiency with conducting instructional research and analysis on learners and context -- Applying tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods -- Experience in: o Application of the ADDIE method of instructional design o Curriculum and lesson planning o Aerospace or other engineering fields o Using Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate 9, Camtasia Studio 9, Adobe Audition, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Animate -- Active SSBI investigation ( SDL Benefits: SDL offers competitive salaries and benefits.
