Job Description: Focusing on Intermountain's Fundamentals of Care, the Infusion Department Manager is responsible for managing day to day operations and ensuring that excellent patient care is provided within the Infusion Department(s) over which the position has accountability. This includes developing, managing, and achieving budgetary and financial objectives, quality improvement initiatives, service line development, and personnel management. This position works closely with Service Line Leadership, Providers and other Caregivers to ensure the highest value sub-specialty care. Posting Specifics * Shift details: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5 :00 PM, will be the majority of the work but some infusion centers are open on the weekend and the manager will need to be available for emergency situations only. * Job details: Position will cover Logan IV therapy, Logan Oncology Infusion, Cassia IV therapy, and provide some consultant work for Bear River IV therapy. * Preferred qualifications: Infusion and/or chemotherapy experience. Previous manager experience is prefer erred but not required. Communication skills, relationship building skills, willing to grow services at each location, and help standardize processed with the rest of the service line. Scope This position is a geographically sourced position in that the Infusion Department(s) over which this position has accountability are in geographically congruent areas (e.g., Provo, American Fork, Spanish Fork) and specified by the Leadership of Intermountain' s Cancer Service Line. This position will report to the Executive Clinical Director Oncology and will work closely with the corresponding geographically linked Medical & Radiation Oncology Managers, Clinical Programs, local hospital and clinic leadership, SelectHealth, and other key stakeholders of the Cancer Service Line. This position is responsible for achieving the goals of the organization and the Cancer Service Line as well as creating and achieving operational and capital budgets for each assigned location. Job Essentials * Human Resources Management accountabilities, including: Responsible for payroll accuracy and timely approval. Conducts job interviews and employee selection in a manner that supports effective staffing. Performs onboarding and orientation with new staff to promote employee engagement and staff productivity. Conducts staff and provider rounding on a regular basis. Initiates activities to promote employee and physician engagement. Utilizes formal and informal recognition resources to recognize staff and provider accomplishments. Demonstrates accountability and follows through on assignments, projects, and tasks. Conducts training activities with staff and providers to support operational functions. Maintains effective staffing levels and adequate scheduling. * Responsible for the environment in which clinical nursing is practiced. Contributes to the strategic planning process, day-to-day operations, standards of care, and attainment of organizational goals. Facilitates collaborative problem solving among interdepartmental disciplines. Advocates for and allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice. Promotes shared decision-making and professional autonomy by providing department input into executive-level decisions, and by keeping staff informed of executive level activities. Implements and role models the vision, mission, core values of the Nursing Philosophy of CARING and Intermountain Healthcare's Healing Commitments. * Responsible for development, implementation and management of annual capital/operating and personnel (FTE) budget for department. Uses resources effectively and manages expenses to meet financial goals of department. * Models and fosters an environment of professionalism and employee engagement on the department. Responsible for recruitment, retention, and employee satisfaction. Ensures competent and sufficient number of staff to meet patient care needs, which includes hiring, orientation, and managing staffing to a changing census. Ensure that new skill training and ongoing competency verification is completed annually. Evaluate staff competency through use of performance reviews and peer reviews. Mentors staff and provide professional educational opportunities. Utilizes participative practice management models. * Responsible for department performance and compliance with patient safety initiatives, federal, state and other regulatory bodies such as Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, DOPL, and other department specific accrediting and certifying bodies. Ensures achievement of clinical program goals and implements action plans to improve performance as needed. Effectively uses professional and organizational best practices to ensure the delivery of quality patient care. Participating member of a professional nursing organization appropriate to position and service line. Facilitates and encourages staff nurse participation in professional organizations. Facilitates use of resources by nursing staff such as nurse practitioners, other expanded role RNs, and other specialty roles. * Monitors and improves patient satisfaction utilizing available service metrics and national benchmarks to develop and implement action plans to achieve desired outcomes. Acts as a role model for staff and encourages the incorporation of Healing Commitments and Healing Connections in every aspect of patient care delivery. Ensures that staff incorporates evidence based practice into all aspects of care delivery. * Partner with physicians at the department level to achieve clinical, operational, and service goals. * Communicates to staff and encourages participation in opportunities for community outreach activities (ex: health fairs; middle and high school education). Manage, coordinate, and support student nurse activities. Supports staff participation in outside community organizations such as volunteer health clinics, health fairs and advisory boards for not for profit organizations. * Compliance accountabilities, including: department compliance with federal, state, and other facility/department specific accrediting and certifying bodies. Maintains appropriate departmental documentation. Effectively monitors departmental medical equipment with appropriate maintenance and follow up. Keeps informed of all changing regulatory requirements, works with the medical staff to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, and is responsible for compliance with relevant reimbursement laws and regulations. * Facility Management accountabilities, including: Promotes safety and security in all facilities by conducting regular safety inspections and monitoring the work environment for potential hazards and maintenance issues. Actively participates in emergency preparedness activities, including drills, simulations and training with staff and providers. Ensures that material safety data sheets (MSDS) are accessible and that staff is familiar with workplace hazards and the process of responding to workplace exposures, accidents, injuries, and illnesses. Takes responsibility for all physical facility maintenance, including building repair, landscaping, and housekeeping. Ensures that preventative maintenance, repairs, etc. are completed on a regular basis on all equipment, as required. * Other Management Responsibilities accountabilities, including: Explores feasibility and practicality of innovations in patient care delivery and patient-provider interactions, (i.e. on-line customer interface). Leads and initiates marketing activities to promote services, facilities, and providers within the communities served. Provides and promotes positive public relations. * Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives (i.e. CQI, TQM, Lean, 100% participation, etc.). * Responsible to work with Human Resources and other leaders to create and maintain a positive work environment that fosters a highly engaged workforce. Shift Details: Full time, 40 hours/week. Exempt Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified. * RN License required. * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers. * Three years of experience in progressively responsible healthcare leadership positions. * Two years of clinical experience. * Experience in budget development and management. * Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications * Masters Degree (Business or Health Administration). * Experience or background in area of oversight. Physical Requirements: Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information. See, read, and operate computers, telephones, office equipment, and manipulate paper requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
