The Director of Advising for Statewide Campuses (Program Coordinator SR) oversees academic advising and success coordinating efforts for the statewide campus system in coordination with the Utah State University system of advising and student success initiatives, and Statewide Campuses advising supervisors. This position plays an integral role in enrollment management for USUs Statewide Campuses through developing high-level professional relationships, building and maintaining trust with stakeholders and campus partners, and developing advising and success coordinating initiatives that support USUs retention and completion strategies. The Director of Advising provides consulting, guidance, planning, and assistance for multiple student services areas and projects relating to: academic advising, success coordinating, student persistence, retention, and completion.The Director of Advising works closely with Directors of Students, University Advising and region-specific academic advisors, success coordinators, and other student-facing roles at the various statewide campuses. Additionally, this position will work as a liaison between campuses and centers state-wide and administration within various student serving offices, colleges, and departments. The position will report to the Assistant Vice President for Statewide Campuses. The position can be based at a USU Statewide Campus or USU Logan.Enrollment Management through Student Services & Success Coordinating

• Develop and maintain persistence and retention practices that strengthen the role of success coordinators and student services staff.
• Develop, coordinate, and participate in Statewide early alert processes in alignment with Statewide leadership and the Office of Student Retention and Completion
• Oversee and coordinate professional development & training opportunities aligned to professional competencies for student affairs professionals.
• Increase statewide collaboration of student services.
• Create strategic plans and develop new initiatives and programs for retaining students through success coordinating.
• Develop and standardize processes and procedures for student hand-off from admissions to enrollment of new students.
• Serve as Statewide Campuses lead to coordinate and collaborate services with the key student services offices.
• Collaborate with Assistant Vice President, Statewide leadership team, and Directors of Students relating to other offices and how we refer and serve students.Statewide Student Services Leadership & Committee or Project Involvement
  • Coordinate the integration of advising, success coordinating, and other student services at Statewide residential and non-residential campuses.
  • Meet regularly with Statewide administration to present data, plans, and progress towards goals (DoS weekly meetings, monthly Administrative Council meeting, other meetings as needed or by invitation).
  • Represent Statewide at various USU advising and student services meetings, committees, and working groups.
  • Initiate and/or serve on Statewide Campus-related student services committees (retention, orientation, centralized scheduling, success messaging, etc.).
  • Initiate and/or collaborate on student services projects as they relate to advising, success coordinating, enrollment, recruitment, retention, and staff development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with college and departmental administration and academic advising personnel to ensure accurate and consistent services to students across the state.
  • May serve as proxy for Assistant Vice President at meetings, committees, councils, and task force, if requested.Academic Advising Leadership
    • Supervise the Statewide Integrated Studies Academic Advisor & Completion Coordinator.
    • Develop and maintain high impact academic/major advisor practices through review of current supports, increased statewide collaboration, and professional development & training opportunities aligned to professional competencies.
    • Evaluate Statewide Campus advising structure and develop strategic planning to increase advisor capacity and proficiency.
    • Develop and manage consistent and accurate advising practices for Statewide Campus advisors aligned to advising professional competencies, student analytics, and institutional advising best practices.
    • Create strategic plans and develop new initiatives and programs for Statewide Campuses academic advising.
    • Assess and analyze potential roadblocks for academic/major advising and develop plans to mitigate them.
    • Oversee advising and coordinate advising relationships across the USU system.
    • Lead Statewide all-advisor monthly meeting.
    • Develop and maintain relationship with University Advising.
    • Increase collaborative and leadership opportunities for advisors and success coordinators through participation on committees/working groups in supporting and lead roles, opportunities to present to or train others, and platforms for advisors and success coordinators to share expertise with peers and others.
    • Implement award/recognition system for outstanding advisors, success coordinators, and other staff who strive to serve students in an exceptional way.Key Competencies

        • Masters degree in a related field plus minimum of two years of relevant work experience.

          • Knowledge and experience with multi-campus university structure.

          • Proven ability to develop training opportunities relating to professional competencies.
