The Clinical Engineer II is assigned to perform preventive
maintenance, repair and configuration of all types of devices and
equipment including complex multi-faceted, multiple interface
specialized system, and must be able to perform these duties with
little or no supervision.

Job Essentials
Preventative Maintenance: Accountable to perform preventative
maintenance (PM) on all assigned equipment, including detailed
documentation.
Corrective Maintenance: Performs corrective maintenance and repairs
on assigned equipment and instrumentation, including detailed
documentation. Accountable to maintain proper levels of parts and
supplies and assist in finding cost saving suppliers.
Effective Communication: Accountable for clear and effective
communication with medical and hospital staff at all levels
regarding issues/concerns, to promote professional, knowledgeable
resolutions.
Policy and Procedure: Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of policies
and procedures relative to the Clinical Engineering department,
Federal, State, Local, JCAHO, Capital Equipment Services (CES) and
Intermountain Healthcare. Finds and explains CE policies.
Prioritize Workload: Properly prioritizes workloads and manages
time effectively with minimal supervision.
Installation: Performs inspections and installation on assigned
incoming equipment according to CE policy. May assist in Capital
Equipment Services (CES) projects and assessments.
In-Service Training: Accountable to coordinate in-service training
for proper use and operations of all medical equipment with
departments and/or user of that equipment
Minimum Qualifications
Clinical Engineers that transport equipment in Intermountain
vehicles are required to meet the following requirements: (Not
required for those areas where transporting equipment is not a
regular part of the CE's assigned duties.)
Specific to Clinical Engineering Dialysis support as well as
Surgical Sterilization support, Clinical Engineers must be able to
work after hours when the equipment is available and not being used
for patient care.
Overnight travel could be frequent in order to support both service
lines within our geographical areas, including Utah and all
surrounding states.
On call support, including the expectation to be called back into
work will be required on a rotational basis in order to avoid
disruption of service in assigned areas. (Not traditional Monday
through Friday, as it includes weekends and evenings or early
mornings outside of operational hours.)
Candidates must have a clean driving record and provide driver's
license and sign a release for Intermountain to request a motor
vehicle report.
Must be able to successfully complete a Department of Motor
Vehicles Health Physical.
These positions also require a test for color blindness as part of
this job includes color testing as part of the daily machine
functionality testing.
For roles that require transportation of equipment and that drive
commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds and up to 26.000 pounds
weight class will be required to meet the additional requirements
of the Department of Transportation for those vehicles.
Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics Technology with
three years of Bio-Medical experience. Degree must be obtained
through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
No degree and five years of Bio-Medical experience.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly
rate dependent upon experience.
$26.18 - $41.24
