Position is responsible for performing to established targets on all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to Safety, Quality, Delivery and CostPosition also involves responsibility for the planning and attainment of business objectives with specific emphasis on ensuring that all manufacturing activities are carried out and aligned with and in compliance with global manufacturing standardsOperational leadership and planning with respect to overall site manufacturing operations (Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Scheduling and materials, Facilities). Ensures production methods result in quality products. Assist in all areas of Manufacturing as directed per Operational Requirements.Manages full Production Planning function, ensuring adequate product availability to meet customer requirements in a timeous and adequate way Ensure capacity, labor and production plans in alignment with customer demand to meet lead time requirements.Management of the full Engineering function, incl. ensuring adequate equipment maintenance, procurement and commissioning of new equipment, equipment upgrades. Management of site Facilities function.Reduce customer complaints by consistent emphasizing of quality in all and every instance.Management of functions within manufacturing operations including leading, involving, and developing team members and subordinates. This also includes effective management of staff through performance reviews, staff training, motivation, leadership, and staff wellbeing.Resource allocation, utilization and support to production and site processes, with the aim of resolving problems associated with the product and/or processes and managing the manufacturing of all products according to requirements. Assists in root cause and corrective action activities in partnership with Quality and Engineering.Ensuring the maintenance of appropriate documentation and ensuring that all manufacturing operations processes are carried out in compliance with procedures and regulations.Ensure prompt attention of the Director of Operations in areas of risk, which might have an adverse effect on product and/or safetyAssist trouble-shooting activities in other areas of the business as required.Participate in the Change Management System effectively and to the best advantages of the businessEnsure standards of housekeeping, safety and GMP are met throughout the site and other areas of responsibilityManage applicable cost centers to the agreed budget and prepare effective plans for future budgets. Monitoring and optimization of business performance through identification and reduction of cost drivers. Create awareness of cost implications and avoid waste and discards where possible.Foster safety awareness and promotes a safe culture, the implementation of safe work practices, and involvement in all safety committee activities ensuring safety of employees and visitors within the company. Responsible for advising on all relevant safety issues which could affect the company’s operations, ensuring that the company is both in legal compliance and provides a safe place of work for employees and with maximum regard to the environment.MANAGEMENT / SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThe position has responsibility for managing several direct reports, some of whom may have supervisory/managerial responsibilities. Additionally, the position will require a managerial role in the following areas:Participation at Management level - Life Sciences Operations. Close contact with plant personnel at all levels.Contact with suppliers.Ensure staff are adequately trained to perform the tasks required of themACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPEThe position impacts on all site manufacturing operations and the financial exposure of decisions could be significantThe position has a scope for decision making within confines of agreed plant annual operating plans and compliance rulesProduct availability management is critical. With a key focus on service delivery to customers, (external and internal), the incumbent must ensure that all operational activities are aligned to ensure product is manufactured to the required quality and service levelsAbility to implement measurement, control, and reporting systems to track operational performance and complianceProblem solving - the incumbent is expected to use initiative in tackling and resolving problems related to manufacturing issuesExpected to give direction and leadership as required across multiple areasPeriodic goal reviews, annual performance reviews and personal development reviews will also occur.Experience managing plant operations with low volume, high mix products and multiple shift models, including 7 x 245 - 8 years manufacturing experience in relevant manufacturing environment (Life Sciences strongly preferred).5 years Management experienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field / experienceExposure to the principles of Business Excellence, i.e. Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma, preferred, but not essentialExperience in SAP preferredAbility to: Communicate with all levels of management, external suppliers.
