Purchasing Manager

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated individual that will provide leadership & direction for our purchasing team. Potential candidates should have a purchasing leadership background in consumer products procurement, partnering with suppliers both domestically and internationally in the development and ongoing supply of products. The Purchasing Manager will be accountable for leading the optimization and the execution of the purchasing/procurement processes to meet our customer requirements and business expectations. To be successful in this role, candidates must display high levels of problem-solving, leadership, ownership of responsibilities and ability to collaborate with multiple teams.

This is a full-time position. General schedule is 8am-5pm Monday - Friday. Part time, remote, or student schedules are not available.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the Purchasing team and ensure collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop supply/purchasing plans to maintain finished goods inventories that align with the strategies and objectives of the business over a 12-month horizon.
  • Lead key supply/purchasing collaboration meetings with New Product Development, Demand Planning, & Sales to communicate supplier performance, opportunities, and issues.
  • Manage performance, provide coaching, feedback, and development plans to the Purchasing Team members
  • Manage the purchasing processes to align inventory strategy with the goals of the company while minimizing inventory risk exposure.
  • Drive process standardization and continuous improvement. Redesign processes to reduce waste and improve supply/FG Inventories across the distribution network.
  • Work with our in-house Software Development team to drive the development of tools and systems needed to elevate the performance of the Purchasing team.
  • Build strong relationships with our key suppliers ensuring a continuous long-term partnership.
  • Partner with the Director of Sales & Operations Planning with the development of a monthly product Supply Plan that will be used in S&OP cycle.
  • Coordinate between Product Development, Demand Planning, and Sales teams to follow-up on various new product introductions and product transitions to ensure supply can meet anticipated demand.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree: Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Should have at least 3-5 years supervisory/leadership experience in a Purchasing/Supply role in consumer products. Would prefer someone with a background managing & partnering with international suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and provide leadership to team members.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of Supply Chain processes & principles.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong ability to collaborate with other teams in the development of supply plans.
  • Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers and drive improvement on performance metrics.
  • A mind for continuous improvement.
  • Strong business judgment, excellent math skills, and ability to analyze data trends.
  • Fluent in complex Excel formulas. Experience with PowerBI is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time with attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel internationally to visit supply partners (5-15% of time).
