Job Description:

This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA service position is hosted by the Public and School Partnership (PSP) and is based at Cache County Children’s Justice Center in Logan, UT. The Cache County Children’s Justice Center is committed to reduce child abuse in northern Utah by providing outreach and education to community members. By engaging in activities that provide outreach and education to community members, this site hopes to, in turn, increase awareness, understanding, access, and use of child abuse resources and supports that are available to community members.

 

AmeriCorps VISTA is a National Service program. All AmeriCorps VISTA positions are full-time for one year, as mandated by the Corporation for National and Community service. Successful completion of a one-year service term qualifies all VISTA members for either an education award of $6345 or a cash stipend of $1800 (direct deposit). The pay, a living stipend, is a little over $1100 in a 30-day month/time period (before federal taxes).

 

Anticipated start date is July 6, 2021, pending successful candidate placement in this position.


Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Research and pilot new outreach and community awareness project for Cache/Rich CJC Collaborate with site staff to successfully coordinate large-scale Diaper Bank program.
  • Assist in creating and implementing an awareness and action training campaign for educators and ecclesiastical leaders on the signs of child abuse and family violence. “Awareness + Action = Social Change.”

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 18 years old and must hold U.S. citizenship or legal state residency status.

One-year, 40 hours/week commitment

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)

Community outreach, and resource generation experience

Independent worker yet collaborative team member

$1100 per 30-day month

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.

CPD Funding Statement

The Center for Persons with Disabilities is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee for service programs. All staff positions at the CPD are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the CPD with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
