Job Description:

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking applicants for a small satellite systems propulsion engineer to perform engineering and serve as the technical team lead for propulsion contracts. SDL, a University Affiliated Research Center, has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for almost six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations. Key Responsibilities: andmiddot; Defining propulsion requirements for missions andmiddot; Creating and managing test and development plans andmiddot; Monitoring the state of the art for SmallSat and CubeSat propulsion systems andmiddot; Identifying candidate propulsion systems for mission concepts, studies, and trades andmiddot; Leading sizing, designing, integrating, and testing propulsion systems for spacecraft andmiddot; Test planning, monitoring, and reporting andmiddot; Supporting planning, execution, and analysis of on-orbit maneuvers andmiddot; Communicating results orally and through written reports Required Qualifications: andmiddot; BS in engineering or relevant technical field andmiddot; 5+ years of relevant experience andmiddot; Previous small satellite or CubeSat propulsion experience, including integrated propulsion testing andmiddot; Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues andmiddot; General knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, manufacturing aerospace systems, and orbit dynamics andmiddot; Strong verbal and written communication skills andmiddot; Willing to travel andmiddot; Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a US government security clearance Recommended Qualifications: andmiddot; MS in relevant technical field andmiddot; 10 years of experience andmiddot; Active TS clearance with SSBI andmiddot; Experience leading technical developments andmiddot; Experience with component-level technology development andmiddot; Experience with spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control SDL Benefits: At SDL, we take pride in and highly value our employees.
