Job Title: Quality EngineerFLSA Status: SalaryHourly Wage: DOEShift: DaysSummaryAccording to customer and internal specifications, ensures that customer requirements are implemented and verified during the design and manufacture of circuit board products. Ensures that Quality issues are addressed with the customer and provides technical interchange service between the customer and TTM Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing entities to ensure customer satisfaction and supplier accountability to specification.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAbility to read, understand, and follow written procedures and instructions in English.Ability to interpret and proof technical data and requirements, and author and approve the implementation into the proper procedure and other communication vehicles, i.e. travelers, quality data sheets, dimensional reports, operator instructions, etc.Ability to use personal experience, education, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals including providing data to internal and external customers.Ability to lead and direct the work of others.Ability to focuses on product quality, yield and improvement initiatives.Ability to interact with customers regarding process improvement and failure analysis.Ability to support manufacturing by process quality definition and implementation.Ability to specify materials, tools, equipment (when possible), and process parameters.Ability to assist in training of manufacturing personnel with respect to quality verification and implementation.Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.Ability to troubleshoot and implement corrective actions for process improvement.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.CompetenciesTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Quality - Demonstrates attention to detail.Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.Written Communication - Able to read and interpret written information and write clearly.Managing People - Improves processes, products and services.Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities.Teamwork - Balances team and individual responsibilities; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.Delegation - Delegates work assignments via quality functions.Organizational Support - Follows policies and procedures.Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.Quantity - Meets productivity standards, completes work in timely manner, and strives to increase productivity; works quickly.Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions.Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time.Dependability - Follows instructions and responds to management direction; commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.Innovation- Generates suggestions for improved work.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years experience and/or training in the printed circuit board (PCB) industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of relevant engineering software and Microsoft Office Suite.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsTo perform this job successfully, a certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt, or enrollment in statistical training is helpful. Certification/training in GD&T and other quality tools i.e. PFMEA, DOE, DPPM, 5 Whys, RCCA, Fishbone, Kaizan, TQM, 8D SCAR, and other Quality principles are a plus.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. This position requires working with open-top chemical tanks.The noise level in the work environment can vary between moderate and loud. When working in areas where the noise level is loud, hearing protection is required.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) RequirementsEye protection (safety glasses) are required when working in areas of the plant where eye protection is required.Face shields are required when handling chemicals, working over open process tanks, and when working around potentially flying objects.Steel-toed shoes are required in specified areas.
