The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge NASA and DoD programs for almost six decades. Our expertise is in space IR, VIS, UV, and RF instruments, sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, and ground segments. We are seeking a Director of Security. The selected candidate will report to the SDL President and will lead the overall management of the Corporate Security function through subordinate managers. This is the top level for this function, responsible for regulatory compliance with Department of Defense and Intelligence Community security regulations through effective leadership, expertise, training, and influence. This position manages security operations over a geographically dispersed and diverse set of people, facilities, programs, and national security efforts. The Director of Security will help lead/enable all security management and functions across SDL. The Director is part of the team that enables, plans, and executes all aspects of security for programs, contracts, and operations ranging from Unclassified/Proprietary to Collateral, Special Access Programs (SAP), and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) programs. Duties include articulating and implementing the Security division strategy that ensures regulatory compliance, delivers value to customers, facilitates flawless program execution, and promotes excellent collaboration within and outside the division. The Director of Security's responsibilities include the following: Provide executive leadership for security programs that safeguards the organization's people, facilities, and information. Will have a significant leadership role in advocating for, nurturing, and maturing key program security partnerships across all divisions to enable the best possible program security planning, support, and execution for SDL programs and activities. This includes a large, diverse, and geographically dispersed industrial security team, classified information systems security teams, SDL program management, and other SDL enterprise teams (i.e., Programs and Operations, Contracts, Human Resources, Business & Finance, Facilities, Communications, Legal, etc.). Focus on assuring program security execution, consistency, partnerships, effectiveness, compliance, and integration across all branch, division, and enterprise security and information assurance areas, and across all security levels: Unclassified/Proprietary, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Collateral, SCI, and SAP. Will apply expert multi-discipline program security management experience (program security, OPSEC, PERSEC, physical security, technical security, information assurance, INFOSEC, COMSEC, etc.) to enable execution, reduce/eliminate redundancies, and assure cross-discipline and cross-organizational teamwork through consistent and repeatable process management. Will assist senior SDL leadership in representation with senior customer (IC and DoD) security counterparts in multiple forums. Must be willing to seek and take on active and direct roles with industry/government security organizations to include active working group participation, executive committee membership, and chair/vice chair positions as necessary. Interface with all levels of corporate and government management personnel for all pertinent security issues. Manage the integration of all security initiatives and security budgets to ensure employee engagement and facilities change as necessary to meet contract compliance while meeting operational and business goals. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with at least 15 years of security experience with government and/or defense contractors Must have at least 8 years of management and/or leadership experience in national security classified programs and managing complex resources and budgets for large security teams Must have experience in industrial security across the entire security spectrum (DoD, IC, and NISPOM-Collateral, SCI, and SAP), physical security, cyber information assurance, COMSEC, and emergency/crisis management planning and execution Experience analyzing and briefing program SCGs, OPSEC Plans, and threat and vulnerability assessments with key internal and external stakeholders Extensive understanding of current Intelligence Community security standards and regulations Expert leading and enforcing of DoD, DoE, or other government security regulatory programs Proven ability to instill and/or enforce collaboration within and outside of a division, encourage alternative solutions, and appropriately manage risk/reward Must be a US citizen and have an active TS/SCI clearance Proven leadership, management, mentoring, and team-building skills Strong collaborative skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Unquestioned personal and business integrity Must be able to travel Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a director of security Proven ability and experience working with US government security leadership in DoD and IC security programs Experience and direct participation with government/industry security organizations (ISWG, NDIA, AIA, NCMS, etc.) Demonstrated experience in making critical security program and management decisions for dynamic business units that support high-value contracts across a wide US government customer spectrum SDL Benefits: At SDL, we take pride in and highly value our employees.
