Job Description:
Overview Utah State University Counseling and Psychological
Services (CAPS; ) is seeking two therapists to join our new
Residence Life embedded program on Logan campus. These will be
full-time, benefited, 10-month positions (August-May) with evening
hours and after-hour on-call rotations (on-call for a total of 10
weeks per year; on-call service will be triaged by an external call
center, so students will not be calling the therapists directly).
The positions can be worked in an 8-hour/5-day shift (1pm-10pm) or
a 10-hour/4-day shift (11am-10pm) Monday through Friday. The
therapists will spend approximately 50/50 split time between CAPS
and the Residence Life offices. Incumbents working toward their
LCSW and CMHC will be provided supervision. Incumbents working
toward becoming a Licensed Psychologist will be provided
postdoctoral supervision, as well as approved time during their
shift to prepare for the Examination for Professional Practice in
Psychology (EPPP) up to four hours per week for six months.
Responsibilities Embedded CAPS therapists will be part of the
four-person team of Residence Life embedded services. The
therapists will provide regular CAPS services to Residence Life
until 7pm during the weekdays. This will include clinical services
such as individual therapy, group therapy, initial consultations
(triage appointments), single-session therapy, and crisis support,
as well as workshops and outreach presentations. They will also be
available for consultative services to Res Life staff. Between the
hours of 7pm and 10pm, the therapists will only provide brief
urgent care appointments as needed to provide de-escalation and
risk assessment. For a total of 10 weeks during the 10-month
period, therapists will take turns carrying an on-call phone. Calls
will be triaged by an external crisis call center, and the on-call
therapist will be contacted if on-site support is needed. They will
not receive calls directly from students. On-site support will be
provided along with an on-call Residence Director or an officer of
the Utah State University Police Department. If therapists are
required to provide on-site support, they can be provided an
opportunity for a flexed schedule. They will report to CAPS
Director and are expected to fully participate in administrative
functions of CAPS (e.g., weekly staff meetings).
