to the Richmond Facility by providing Food Safety / Quality
responsibilities as outlined further.Supervises theplant
documentation systems, which includes the control of quality
systems documents (policies, procedures, work instructions,
recordkeeping). Manages the food safety inspection and
corrective/preventive action programs. Leads plant food defense
team and supports ingredient, packaging and finished product
traceability and mock recall programs. Manages product and
environmental microbiological testing program. Investigates plant
non-conforming product incidents and consumer complaints,
conducting root cause analysis and leading corrective action
efforts. Coordinates HACCP / Food Safety Plan risk assessments and
scheduled reviews. Develops strategic applications for plant data
collection systems. Provides quality training and awareness to
plant employees.Provides direct supervision to QA Technician /
Specialist team in support of structured product inspection
programs, laboratory testing, environmental monitoring, and
calibration activities. Principal Accountabilities70% - Provide
overall support to the Richmond facility as outlined below:
1. Manage documentation critical to quality systems, compliance,
and formulation.
2. Support factory projects and programs by ensuring food safety
and quality standards are upheld
3. Lead Food Safety continuous improvement efforts (complaint
reduction, program reassessments, data collection systems,
training).
4. Assess and disposition WIP and finished goods held for quality
and food safety deviations
5. Manage food safety inspection and corrective / preventive action
programs.
6. Lead and coordinate other Food Safety / Quality program efforts
such as SQF certification audits, facility verification /
validation activities, HACCP / Food Safety Program, Raw Material
Bulk Handling Systems, Food Security Improvements, etc.
7. Support sanitation program initiatives, environmental programs,
cleaning verification & validation, allergen changeover, etc.30% -
Provide direct supervision to QA Technicians and the quality team
that support environmental microbiological monitoring program,
laboratory testing activities, calibration program, internal audit
programs, and allergen validation activities.Job ComplexityManage
Pepperidge Farm QA documentation including creating new documents,
revising existing documents, determining training needs, overseeing
the approval and distribution processes, maintaining document
control database and coordinating document reviews. Manage review,
storage and archiving of quality records. Fulfill requests for data
and reports (ex. Corporate, environmental).Lead plant internal
quality and food safety inspections.Create and coordinate schedule,
coordinate training, qualification and calibration of auditors,
develop checklists, generate reports and follow-through with
corrective action assignees to ensure CARs are completed,
effectiveness is verified and audits are closed. Participate in
programs as an auditor/inspector.Supports plant traceability
systems and mock recall exercises for ingredients, packaging and
finished product. Executes plant-scheduled and Corporate-initiated
trace exercises, including requests for mock recalls at the
third-party DC level. Leads plant food defense and food fraud teams
by conducting team meetings, audits and assessments.Oversees
program for calibrating and troubleshooting analytical
instrumentation on production floor.Responsible for validation of
sampling and test methods. Includes finished product, ingredient,
process, shelf-life and environmental testing and programs.Lead
investigations of in-plant quality incidents (foreign material,
nonconforming product) and consumer complaints, identifying root
causes and facilitating corrective action with plant
teams.Interprets and reports consumer complaint data trends and
facilitates action plans.Function as HACCP / Food Safety team
member responsible for conducting risk assessments and organizing
program reassessments for continuous improvement.Identify
opportunities and design plans for expanded use of the plant
electronic data collection system, anticipating future
applications.Cross-train in other QA tasks to function as back-up
to QA team members.In the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager,
the appropriate responsibilities will be shown utilizing the
organizational chart to cover critical food safety
responsibilities.Minimum RequirementsHS Diploma or GED required4+
years' experience in a manufacturing environmentPreferred
RequirementsBachelor's Degree or Associate's degree4+ years'
experience in food industry, bakery, or food
manufacturingExperience in the food industry plant environment with
an understanding of manufacturing processesPractical knowledge and
application of food safety principles (ex. Regulatory, PCQI, HACCP,
SQF, GMPs, food microbiology)SQF Practitioner
certificationPractical knowledge and application of quality
systemsAbility to troubleshoot a problem, involve other
stakeholders as necessary, and brainstorm potential root
causes.Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office
software, able to master other softwareProficient knowledge of
SPCEffective presentation skillsWorking ConditionsUp to 10 %
travel. The employee is working out in the manufacturing
environment 70 - 80% of the time and is exposed to machinery, heat,
changes in elevation, wet floors, cleaning chemicals, interfacing
with powered industrial equipment as a pedestrian, and high noise
levels on a routine basis.Compensation and Benefits:The target base
salary range for this full-time, salaried position is
between$61,800-$97,800Individual base pay depends on work location
and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and
relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms
of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental,
