The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking an undergrad or grad student in Electrical Engineering to work with professional Electrical Engineers to design, manufacture, assemble, and test hardware for a program in the Strategic and Military Space (SMS) division.

SDL supports a variety of missions, including NASA's vision to reveal the unknown for the benefit of humankind and the Department of Defense's aim to protect our Nation on the ground, in the air, and in space. Our sensors, satellites, software systems, and science and engineering play an essential role in some important missions you've heard of, and others that you haven't. Join our team in our seventh decade of delivering mission success.

Tasks Will Include

  • Coordinating the fabrication and testing of electrical cables for flight hardware
  • Assisting with the designing, fabrication, and assembly of cables for ground support equipment
  • Assisting senior Electrical Engineers with creating and executing test procedures for electronics boards
  • Assisting with software development for SDL's test and calibration equipment

    Required Qualifications
    • Must be a sophomore or higher (as of Fall 2022) currently enrolled at USU studying Electrical Engineering
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident
    • Ability to work independently when required, but also to work closely in a team with other students and professional engineers
    • Self-motivated, dependable, and detail oriented
    • Strong MS Office skills
    • Ability to balance work and school responsibilities
    • Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours (nights or weekends) when required for hardware testing (e.g. TVAC)
    • Must be able to commit 20 hours a week to work during the school year

      Preferred Qualifications
      • Experience with schematic capture
      • Interested in remaining employed throughout schooling, including full time during the summer
