Job Description:
Overview:Receive and process calls from the public. Gather
essential information from callers and dispatch the appropriate
public safety personnel to the scene. Must be organized, adept at
multi-tasking, level-headed, and trustworthy. Expected work hours
will include Nights, Weekends, Holidays Day/Swing/Grave Shifts.
Part-Time Hours up to 28 per week.Responsibilities:
- Uses a computer-aided dispatch system.
- Dispatch maintenance and other university personnel to
incidents that require immediate action to ensure the safety and
security of the campus.
- Closely monitor emergency and life-safety systems and alarms,
such as fire detection, intrusion detection, access control, and
security cameras.
- Maintains contact with all units on assignment, maintain status
and location of police.
- Answers non-emergency calls for assistance.
- Enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of
computer systems.
- Receive requests for information regarding vehicle
registration, driving records and warrants, and provides pertinent
data.
- Monitor several complex public safety radio frequencies.
- Operate a variety of communications equipment, including radio
consoles, telephones and computer systems.
